Omega 3 Fats for Your Heart

Omega 3 fatty acids, one of my very favorite nutrients, and I bet if you know the amazing things this nutrient will do for your health, you’d love it too.
See, unlike other harmful fatty acids, these particular polyunsaturated ones are very much essential for our health.
Omega 3 fatty acids aren’t synthesized in body, so we need to obtain them from external sources, either diet or nutritional supplements.

So why are Omega 3 fatty acids so special?

Well, Omega 3 fats have various uses and benefits, most common of which is to prevent heart disease, and here is How:
Omega 3 fats play a role in the prevention of cardiovascular disease, giving the fact that they are after all polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Cardiovascular diseases are encouraged by the intake of too much saturated fats.
The two main Omega 3 fatty acids found in fish oil are Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).

Those two polyunsaturated fats help in the reductin of the causes of heart disease, they lower cholestrol level, lower blood pressure and also lower the triglyceride levels in the blood leading to a lowered risk of abnormal heart rhythms and heart attacks.

Fish oil also prevents hardening of the arteries causing atherosclerosis by preventing the formation of clots in arteries.
Omega 3 fats are believed to be able to prevent stroke.
Now there are two kinds of stroke so be careful, omega 3 fats can only help prevent the kind of stroke caused by clotting of blood in the arteries going to the brain.

However, high doses of fish oil could be harmful, since it could increase the bleeding risks which could lead to hemorrhagic stroke, the kind of stroke resulting from a leak in the arteries of the brain, so doses of omega 3 should be well adjusted.
